Charles Conteh, PhD - Brock University Public Policy Professor

Charles Conteh, PhD, is a longtime Brock University professor in Ontario who has taught courses in areas such as political economy, public administration, and public policy. Through his research he focuses on economic revitalization within Canada’s mid-sized cities and regions, as well as the political economy of business-government relations. Dr. Charles Conteh supervises graduate students as they engage in collaborative projects that take into consideration environmental and market changes at a global level.

Dr. Conteh has authored numerous articles in his field, as well as books such as Mediating Innovation Policy Delivery: The Regional Innovation Centres of Ontario (University of Toronto Press, 2024). Since 2016, he has directed the public policy think tank Niagara Community Observatory and forged lasting government and industry ties at all levels, from the local to the provincial. Dr. Conteh is an executive member of the Canadian Association of Programs in Public Administration and active with the International Public Policy Association.

Charles Conteh, PhD, has achieved extensive recognition in his field, including the first-ever Faculty Distinguished Researcher Award in 2018. He earned the Literati Network Awards for Excellence’s “Highly Commended Award” for his 2013 article "Public Management in an Age of Complexity: Economic Development in Canada.”
